Explore the floor: Instec Inc

Instec Inc. is excited to exhibit at the Advanced Materials Show and will have several of our compact temperature-controlled instruments on display including our HCP621G-PMH hot and cold Hall Effect mini probing stage.

Instec offers a huge range of temperature-controlled instruments optimized for different applications, including stages, plates, chucks, probing stations, and more. While temperature control in itself is a critical property to understand and control, there are few applications where temperature alone is being controlled and measured. This is why Instec instruments are designed not only with optical access and compact size in mind, but with highly flexible configuration options as well. Instec solutions are small and flexible enough to be used in small lab environments where table space comes at a premium, or to be used with a range of different optical/ electrical measurement systems. An excellent example of this design approach at work is the HCP621G-PMH.

With a temperature range from -196°C to 600°C, four independent electrical probers, a gas-tight chamber for oxidation/ condensation prevention via inert gas purge, and a thickness of only 26mm, this miniature probing stage can be paired with almost any magnetic field source to conduct comprehensive semiconductor sample characterization. The spring-loaded probers are landed by hand onto the sample, which is placed on a silver heating and cooling block. Once the probes are landed, the gas-tight lid is re-installed and the sample is now enclosed in a fully environmentally controlled test cell with a low-noise shielded environment. Integrated water-cooling ports on the aluminum frame ensure the probing stage never heats up to dangerous temperatures on the outside, despite the compact size.

Beyond Hall Effect or resistivity measurements, the 18mm window allows access to a range of optical analysis tools such as reflection microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, or X-Ray Diffraction under temperature and environment control. With this single tool, it’s possible to add multiple new dimensions of analysis and control to existing equipment and elevate experiments to the next level. Furthermore, this single tool can be easily shared amongst a multidisciplinary team to fill a wide range of different needs.
